2014

The Inter Village Charity Cricket Cup held at Abbots Ripton in 2014 was a massive success raising almost £1,800 for Holly Ward Children's Charity.
Abbots Ripton, Wistow, Woodhurst and Broughton fought hard for the coveted Golden Box Winners Cup but the final victors were the home team, Abbots Ripton (mutterings of 'home advantage' were heard from the Broughton team who managed to secure a solid 4th place).
Congratulations to all who helped organise and get involved and I am sure this will become an annual event.

The Aspirata Vocalis Choir

On an idyllic summer's day here in Broughton in 2014, we were delighted to welcome our Danish visitors. After a rehearsal in the church, a traditional afternoon tea was served in the Village Hall - many thanks to everyone involved ! It was much appreciated by the choir and their family and friends travelling on tour with them. They had seven concerts scheduled during a five day visit to the UK. The concert was a lovely mixture of sacred and secular music, mostly sung in Danish; beautifully conveyed text sung in harmony and some of the pieces were also accompanied by Hans on our precious little Victorian organ. The choir closed the concert with 'The Day Thou Gavest Lord, is ended' and they were all overwhelmed that, when invited to join in, the audience did just that ! They all enjoyed their visit to Broughton so much, and were enchanted with it - saying 'this had been their best day !!' The proceeds of £225 were donated to All Saints Church ! Thank you Aspirata Vocalis !
