Yesterday we witnessed the Coronation of King Charles the third, a truly historic moment.
For many people this was their first ever chance to witness a coronation but for those who were born before 2nd June 1953 it was their second coronation and for a very select few, and we do have a select few, those born before 12 May 1937, it was the third coronation in their lives.
It was , as we all expected it to be, a grand day of pomp and pageantry, tradition, and a solemn religious ceremony, that was shared by the wider world as never before, and one I am sure we will all remember.
It definitely moves us all into the Carolyn era after seventy glorious years as Elizabethans and gives us all much to look forward to.
It is my pleasure, and great honour, to propose a toast to the good health and long reign of the new royal couple, so
To Charles the third and Camilla, his Queen
Who have waited for decades, in this role to be seen.
The oldest monarch to have ever been crowned.
We hope that with good health your reign will abound,
May you be our monarch for many a year
And rule us and serve us and give us good cheer.
Now that we’ve seen your grand Coronation
We can have our great celebration
So please raise your glasses and joyfully sing
At the top of your voices “GOD SAVE THE KING”
