WOW!
On Saturday 9th June Kathy Ray abseiled down the ArcelorMittal Orbit tower (on the site of the 2012 Olympic Games in London) for Cancer Research UK and raised over £2,163. How about that!! Fantastic!!
She was in the top 3% of UK Cancer Research fundraisers in June. Well done, Kathy!
Kathy says "Taking my feet off the platform, 262 feet up in the air, was more scary than I expected but the whole abseil was actually one of the most exhilarating things I have ever done. Frightening, but FUN!!"

On Saturday 30th March 2018 Broughton’s refurbished play park was officially opened by Russell Payne, Chairman of the Red Tile Wind Farm Trust.
Welcoming everyone to the opening John Ray, Chairman of Broughton Parish Council, said, “First off all we express our thanks to Luminus for donating this area of land to the Parish Council when they did their redevelopment of this site. Without this the project would not have got started. Secondly, we are immensely grateful for the generous grants we have received from the Lottery Fund and The Red Tile Wind Farm Trust. Without these our vision would have remained just that – an unfulfilled dream. Thirdly, we owe an enormous “thank you” to Simon Beeley for his tenacity and dogged determination and the many hours he spent pursuing and procuring these grants, for meeting representatives of play park equipment firms, for choosing the equipment, for supervising its installation and for all the maintenance work he has carried out on the site – Simon you are a star!!!” He then introduced Russell Payne who responded by saying he was delighted to be asked to open the play park and how good it was to see where their grant had been so well spent. It was not very often that they got this opportunity. After this he cut the ribbon and the children went off on an Easter Egg Hunt around the play park and the adults participated in celebratory refreshments of sparkly drink and a specially made cake decorated to represent the play park. |
